Annual Report 2022

I would like to begin this report by thanking the support and commitment of the members of our Board of Directors and more than 500 members who, with their effort, time, dedication, and participation continue to make possible the operation of this Network.

Throughout 2021 and 2022 we had the opportunity to achieve significant milestones that reaffirm our commitment to the Latin American Community and the importance of sharing our values and cultural heritage.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the City of Saint John for believing in us and contributing to the formation of this organization, as well as for its support in the execution of the various initiatives developed to date.

Lastly, and on behalf of the members of the Latin American Community, I extend a deep appreciation to all community organizations, settlement agencies, and community partners, for all you do in the community and for letting us contribute to the common effort to build a more inclusive and diverse province.

Commitment in the coming years is to continue promoting the Latin American culture, strengthening our relationships with all our community partners, supporting the settlement of more newcomers with ties from Latin America, and creating spaces and initiatives where we all can thrive, succeed, and stay.

Governance

The Red Latin@ is run by a volunteer Board of Directors composed of an Executive Committee and three subcommittees. The Executive committee consists of a President, a Treasurer, and a Secretary who oversees the governance of the Board.

The Board of Directors sets the strategic direction to guide the activities of Red Latina@ according to its vision, mission, values, and strategic priorities.

As a volunteer-based organization, all the board members bring diverse experiences and, creative ideas and participate in the following permanent subcommittees:

  • Marketing and Communications
  • Fundraising and Finance
  • Projects and Activities

Additional ad-hoc subcommittees are created to provide support to a specific project when the need arises and involve volunteers of the Red Latin@ who are not Board members.

The structure and functioning of the Red Latin@, the responsibilities of its Board of Directors, and its election, are regulated by the by-laws 1 and 2 dated December 2021 and November 2022 respectively. (Attach by-laws).
